You probably have been trying to make money as an affiliate for some time but for some reason, nothing seems to be working for you. The problem I assume is the lack of focus, a clear plan and the direction of what you want to achieve.

I have mentioned this several times in my other articles, most affiliate marketers (especially newbies) tend to over analyze things (regarding traffic and keyword research). They do not focus on one marketing strategy but hop from one to the other when they don’t see any results (usually within a few days!).

A few days is not long enough to see results. Let’s get back to your BASICS.

affiliate marketing basics - traffic generator pro
Pick one traffic strategy (at most two) and work on it consistently until you are really good at it before attempting other strategies. Have faith in that strategy; find out how it works and the mechanics behind it.

Every method you know of, heard of or that are being used industry wide by many marketers has been proven to work. The question is how well you understand it to implement it successfully.

Trust me; I myself have been through the exact situation as you. I only use two, and I am good at it. You need to be at some point but the important thing is to get started with one that you feel comfortable with and work on it consistently.

Every new affiliate marketer asks this question; where do I start? The answer; start with the fundamentals.

Step 1 – Send Quality Traffic & Clicks to Your Affiliate Links

After being an affiliate for some time, I have learnt to understand what my mentors have taught me. It all comes down to the quantity and the quality of clicks (or traffic) that you send to your affiliate link(s).

Everything is just about that, nothing more. How many people can you get at any given time to click on your affiliate links and are they the right prospects to what you are promoting?

Think about what your affiliate products are about. For me, the products are all about business and online marketing education training, i.e. outsourcing or hiring, how to start an online business, how to generate traffic, business management, scaling your business, etc.

The main bulk of it is tailored towards aspiring entrepreneurs or online business owners.

In other words, are your prospects or the traffic (leads) interested in your products. If they are not interested in owning or starting an online business than you are going to have a hard time convincing them, needless to say make a sale at all.

Let’s say you get about 20-30 clicks a day but if they are from the wrong people, you are not going to make any sale at all.

So, every time you sit down in front of your computer always ask the following questions;

  • How are you going to get quantity and quality clicks?
  • How am I going to place ads to find the right people?

Regarding quantity, the baseline you should be aiming for is about 20-30 clicks per day (minimum). That’s about 1 click an hour. After some time, you should start to see results.

Step 2 – Time & Commitment

Before I start sharing with you on the mechanics of promoting your affiliate links, you need to know about time & commitment. Online Marketing is NOT a get rich scheme.

There is NO such thing. Those that claim they are SCAMS! Period!

You need to commit time and effort to doing it. If you cannot do that, this is not for you.

Don’t be distracted by all the shiny objects that you have been sold on (regrettably) by many marketers out there. Focus on the fundamentals than reap the rewards to the real shiny objects later.

People always ask, how much time do I need to put in everyday to be successful? Do I put in 30 minutes, 60 minutes or a few hours a day? The answer is and shall always be; it really depends.

It depends on how much money you want to make in a year and what you have do in order to grow your business.

Let’s say you have two hours to spare everyday but you use it to watch training videos. Do you think you will make any money doing that? Of course not!

That’s the problem with some people. They always think they need to know more and end up buying more training after another.

I am not saying investing in knowledge is wrong but it comes to a point in time when you need to start applying it. When I first started, a large part of my time was spent taking training after training. I got so caught up with it to an extend I became fearful.

It’s the truth! I end up wondering if I am doing the right thing or screwing everything up.

It is the fear of implementing the training or strategies that I have learned. I began to worry if it would even work at all?

I procrastinated and end up not doing anything at all other than searching for more information. It’s otherwise known as an escape from reality.

I finally decided to pick one strategy. I didn’t care if it would worked for me.

I simply learn it, understand how it works, what the basic fundamentals are and implemented it. I tried it out, kept on it, didn’t give up and have never looked back since.

Worrying how the results will turn out was the last thing on my mind. What was important to me? Whether I have applied all the fundamentals correctly as learned; step by step.

The rest will take care of itself. I analyze what went well, what didn’t, asked many questions before going on to refine than scale the process to improve conversions.

At the end of the day, it is all about focusing your efforts on one or at most two traffic strategies and stay fully committed to what you believe in without giving up.

In the concluding article “Affiliate Marketing for Beginners – Time is of Essence“. I will share with you what to expect from being an affiliate, to take action as soon as possible and never procrastinate.

Procrastination is one of the worst things an aspiring affiliate marketer can allow to take over them. Along the way, you are bound to make mistakes but it doesn’t matter because you are still ahead of everyone else who isn’t doing anything.

Take your first step forward and get started right now!.

To Your Success in His loving grace!
